If you are traveling from Tokyo to Himeji, you can use your JR Pass on the JR Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen . The Hikari direct trains cover the distance between the two cities in approximately three and a half hours.

From Kyoto to Himeji If your starting point is Kyoto  you can get to Himeji with

Kobe to Himeji
To go from Kobe to Himeji, you will have to start the trip at Kobe-Sannomiya station.
